SALETTE is a collection inspired by the traditional embroidery of Castelo Branco.
Salette was the name of my paternal grandmother, someone I never met, but in whom I see myself physically. That, too, is the beauty of genetics.
This collection is an ode to the generations who came before us and shaped who we are, those who made us who we are and left their imprint in our heritage.
I’ve always felt a deep admiration and affection for the elderly, for their wisdom, their stories, their lived experience. For their uniqueness, and for what they teach us simply by being.
Salette is a tribute to my roots, to my genesis, my origin, and to the one who gave me life and name: my father.
For this collection, it could not have been otherwise.
The grandmothers from the project A Avó Veio Trabalhar, were chosen as the models, and the result was everything I had imagined. The grandmothers, representing the hands that weave, the hands that embroider. May they serve as an inspiration to you and convey everything I dreamed of for these pieces.
